Yep, It is Wednesday Night Rivalry! And no its not the Pittsburgh Canadiens.. but If any of you read my blog a while back you will know that came from a joke of a friend saying, “I thought you were from Michigan, not Detroit” So now, everything is something strange. Like Detroit, Kansas.. Oklahoma City, Canada, any contamination you want.
Up tonight, in Steel City, the fans at Consol energy Centre will be treated to a game between the Montreal Canadiens and the Pittsburgh Penguins. Last time Pittsburgh took the ice was against the Flames on the road, losing 5-2. Last time Montreal hit the ice was at home against the Bruins, winning the game 4-2.
If you were a sports better on any of these games, you probably went home happy if you took the over on the Bruins/Montreal game, While Moneyline betters were rewarded if they got the Flames at +117.
So who looks good for tonight’s game? Well, Montreal is 13-2-1 in the last 16 games, where Pittsburgh is 9-5-0 in the last 11. If you want to look at OVER/UNDER Stats.. Montreal has gone over in the last 7 of 9 games, where as Pittsburgh has gone Under in the last 15 of 21.
Montreal spoiled Pittsburgh’s home opener on October 13th, so I suspect that Pittsburgh will be out for some revenge tonight. Phil Kessel, Pittsburgh’s newcomer, leads the Penguins with six goals and Defensively, Pittsburgh has allowed the second-fewest goals in the NHL. The Canadiens also boast six players (Tomas Plekanec, David Desharnais, Max Pacioretty, Brendan Gallagher, P.K. Subban and Andrei Markov) in the top 25 in points.
I don’t know who I think will take the win on the ice tonight. I guess my lean is more toward Pittsburgh and the Black and Gold. I think they are really working up the Defense this season.
